Camino del Madrid - Day 8 - Peñaflor de Hornija (2)

At Wamba one more quick break this time a Fanta Limon. So Wamba is a king from the statue in front of the town. Another thing to look up. Maura and Sandro caught up just as I was leaving Wamba.

Finally before Peñaflor de Hornija there were two ravines to cross, the second much deeper than the first. The town looks like a castle with a deep dry moat. It was a steep climb, the albergue just a little further from the top. The hospitalero (more like caretaker) happens to be cleaning outside when I got there, so no need to call anyone. 3 euros. Nice. Ask her for the supermarket and was told only a provision shop (small town) but is closed today. What? One of the two bars there serve food, that will have to do. Peñaflor de Hornija is a dog town. Most towns has cats sometimes wandering around but this town has a couple of dogs I see most of the time here and there.

Finally Maura followed by Sandro trickled in. Was worried about Ivan but in the end he made it. More incredible was Miguel. The big guy came in just to get a stamp.for his credencial and said he will walk another 10 km to Castromonte. Mama Mia! He starts late but walks fast.

Albergue has a washing machine with detergent, free. Nice smelling clothes for the next two days!

Dinner was just tortilla, tomatoes salad, sausage cuts and sheep's cheese (good!).

Really fun with Ivan. Earlier when he said his mother was worried about his walking saying it's dangerous... Maura told Ivan to tell his mother not to worry as there are two Camino fathers and a.Camino mother to look out for him. No, two Camino parent and a Camino uncle...

Enough for the day...
